Walking
Northumberland has an amazing variety of footpaths and bridleways and considered ‘the best place for walking in England’ by the Country Walking Magazine. From expansive moorland to heather-clad hills, ancient woodlands, craggy coastline, extensive sands and mudflats, Northumberland presents an ever-changing, diverse backdrop to any walk. St Cuthbert’s Way, a 100km trail from the Scottish Borders to Holy Island, was recently voted the most romantic long distant trail in the Country. The Coast, Northumberland National Park and Kielder Water/ Forest Park are classified as Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty whilst, Hadrian’s Wall is a World Heritage Site boasting stunning landscapes. Longer distance routes such as St Cuthbert’s Way, St Oswald’s Way and The Pennine Way are also in close proximity.
Fishing
Northumberland is renowned for excellent fishing with the Tyne offering the best salmon fishing in English. Sea fishing, river fishing and several fisheries are only a short drive away. Hardy and Greys Ltd, the manufacturer of world-famous fishing tackle and well-renowned shop is only 2 miles away in the town of Alnwick.

Shooting
Northumberland is well-known for its splendid shooting grounds. Bywell Shooting Ground is 8 miles away and offers one of the countries largest selections of new and pre-owned shotguns. With generations of experience, they offer gun-fittings and coaching.

Cycling
Northumberland offers excellent cycling opportunities with several long-distance cycling trails: Hadrian’s Cycleway, The Coast & Castles, Pennine Cycleway, and the UK’s most popular route, the Coast to Coast (C2C).
Shorter rides make up a further 350 miles of high-quality cycle routes which roam across the diverse Northumbrian landscape, never failing to disappoint!
A further 100 miles of purpose-built mountain biking trails enable Northumberland’s most wild open spaces to be explored.
