A selection of what our guests say…
Our attic room was by far the most enchanting we have encountered (outshining more expensive period rooms, including those we have encountered in Bath and Edinburgh). Breakfast (including home-made bread) is excellent and served by candlelight. Truly rambling, antiques and curios fill this house (including gallery over-flowing with items for sale).
An enclosed courtyard, along with a feast of architectural artefacts make this hotel a visual delight at every turn, inside and out. Everywhere was clean, warm and the room rate was extremely reasonable. Our hosts did not disappoint; welcoming, relaxed and friendly, they have been skilled and the lucky custodians and renovators of this beautiful pile for over 30 years. They made us feel totally at home and wanting for nothing.
As in all engaging stories, we encountered The Lodge by chance one stormy winter’s day; we cannot praise it too highly. If it did not exist, we would have to make it up.
